My mother was right: I am a Very Important Person - or at least, I was this Saturday when I attended CD101 Day with an All Access pass.
MEISA recently teamed up with local radio station CD101 to market their annual spring concert, and after putting up posters (so many posters...) I was fortunate enough to receive an All Access pass to CD101 Day, along with a photo pass and invitations to special performances. And let me tell you honestly, those laminated slips of paper you wear around your neck give you more delight than a baby's laughter, or even watching someone talking loudly on a cell phone walk into a glass door.
This year at the Lifestyle Communities Pavillion, Columbus's beloved alternative music station celebrated the 101st day of the year with performances by Audrye Sessions, Karate Coyote, People In Planes, The Cliks, and Parlor Mob. Each band was great and gave ferocious, energetic performances; the multitude of fans stuffing the LC loudly demonstrated their satisfaction after each song. Meanwhile, I was rotating between the photo pit, the very cool backstage area, and the upstairs VIP area where I was free to enjoy the show while stuffing my face with free food.

Part of my reward was an invitation to a Friday night party at Central City Recording with an early performance by local group Karate Coyote. The food was delicious, Central City looks infinitely cool, and the way Karate Coyote played, they were in danger of bursting out of the room at any moment.
The next day before CD101 Day officially began, I attended the Big Room at the CD101 studio. People In Planes played an accoustic set broadcast live. I was genuinely impressed by their muscianship, friendly natures, and fantastic accents (they hail from Wales). Here they are:
My overall experience was fantastic in every regard; everyone was utterly friendly and fun. I'd like to thank Marketing and Promotions Director Karac, everyone I encountered from CD101, and the bands for making my CD101 Day spectacular!
One last thing: I would also like to thank the security personnel for humoring me when I meekly asked permission to take pictures in the photo pit, wander backstage, and enter the VIP lounge, you know: everything I was given passes to do.
